White Sands National Monument, New Mexico
I really wish I had the Canon XTI when I was here. I had a cheap camera and know I have failed to capture the beauty of this monument. I was lucky enough to be in town during the balloon festival. Sunrise and balloons, you can not beat it.
The White Sands National Monument, 324653N 1061022.33W, is a U.S. National Monument located about 25 km (15 miles) southwest of Alamogordo in Otero County in the state of New Mexico, at an elevation of 4235 feet (1291 m). The area is in the mountain-ringed Tularosa Basin valley area and comprises the southern part of a 710-km (275-mi) field of white sand dunes composed of gypsum crystals.
